MY TAKE
So another article written by Ron Paul warning about our march towards doom. I agree that the federal government is at its limit for war time powers and infringements on liberties via the Patriot Act. Having said this, I think he’s being a bit extreme in his assessment of tyrants taking over the US due to these laws. I believe democracy is a pendulum and if it goes too far in one direction, the majority brings it right back to the center. I don’t think it’s likely that we would go to the point of no return in the US. There have been plenty of examples in American history of movements towards the right or the left given the times. I don’t see this trend changing in the future. These type of statements are clearly an attempt by Paul to appeal to his favorite demographic: Young Paranoid Libertarians..the FOX News watchers of the future.
